Elizabeth is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. She pursued her clinical career after graduating from the University of Georgia with her bachelor’s in 2012. She then ventured out west to fulfill the role of a field instructor for a wilderness therapy program in the Southwest Utah desert, gaining firsthand insight into the resilience and adaptability individuals demonstrate while overcoming life's challenges. Elizabeth earned her master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Valdosta State University. With a diverse background, she has honed her skills in various therapeutic environments, including community mental health, court-mandated therapy for adjudicated youth and families, a young adult transitional living program, family therapist for parents of adolescents and young adults in treatment, and the primary therapist for adolescent girls in a wilderness therapy program.
Elizabeth values whole family healing, compassion, curiosity about underlying beliefs versus behavior, understanding the roles we play in relationships, psychoeducation, insight, mindfulness, and accountability - all with the intention of aiding in healthy differentiation. She believes that the key to true happiness is aligning our thoughts, feelings, words, and actions.
Therapeutic Approach
Elizabeth's therapeutic approach is grounded in a synthesis of family systems theory, solution-focused brief therapy, narrative therapy, and structural family therapy. Rooted in her theoretical orientation, Elizabeth incorporates evidence-based modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). She specializes in addressing marital challenges, familial conflicts, parenting and co-parenting concerns, attachment issues stemming from trauma or adoption, Autism Spectrum Disorder (Level 1), Anxiety, Depression, and facilitating inner child healing.
Above all, Elizabeth prioritizes the establishment of an authentic connection with her clients. She places emphasis on validating their perspectives, facilitating the exploration of insights, and collaborating to create practical goals that align with the client's perception of their needs. A central goal in her work is to help her clients understand that although we can’t change our emotions, we can change our emotional experience by re-evaluating our stories and beliefs.
Personal Interests
Beyond her therapeutic work, Elizabeth enjoys an active lifestyle that includes running, hiking, and spending time outdoors. She also appreciates live music, planning weekend trips, cooking, and exploring the food scene in Greenville. Her leisure time is spent with her husband and their Australian Shepard, family, and friends.
