Jonathan Clayton
Jonathan is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in South Carolina and a National Certified Counselor (NCC). He earned his M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. Prior to professional counseling, Jonathan spent several years as a high school teacher and coach after receiving a B.A. from Wofford College and completing a M.A. in History through the joint program at the Citadel and the College of Charleston.
Jonathan continues to be passionate about working with adolescents and young adults to overcome obstacles, recognize strengths, and build motivation. Through his experience in both inpatient and outpatient mental healthcare, he has also developed proficiency to help individuals struggling with addiction, anxiety, depression, grief, men’s issues, relational issues, stress, burnout, and trauma.
As a certified Prepare/Enrich facilitator, Jonathan also enjoys working with couples. He considers it an honor to partner with couples and individuals to help foster a deeper understanding of difficult issues,resolve conflicts, clarify goals, and create healthy life rhythms to facilitate healing and growth. Jonathan appreciates each person’s unique story and the authentic growth that is possible in the light of the Lord.
Both natives of the Upstate, Jonathan and his wife reside in Greenville with their daughters. He enjoys adventures with his family, preparing hearty meals for friends, the mountains, losing track of time in the woods or on a river, reading, Braves baseball, college football, and most of all helping others.
